What is the best age for starting guitar lessons?

The earliest that we recommend a student start taking guitar lessons is 5 years old. Several guitar manufacturers now make smaller sized guitars that have lighter strings, enabling small children to play the instrument comfortably. We recommend that students between the ages of 5 and 8 take a trial lesson to asses their abilities.

Students wishing to play the bass guitar should wait until their arms are long enough to reach the 1st fret comfortably, and can push down the heavier strings with out straining.

Additional Activities

Logan Studios offers many supplemental activities to its students that are not found anywhere else. We offer at least 5 performance opportunities a year, which means our students get more experience performing in front of an audience. Guitar students at Logan Studios are invited to attend our monthly Jam Nights, which are included as part of their tuition. Jam Night is a fun, low-pressure, activity that allows students to play together as a group and learn to improvise their own guitar solos. We have also created an ensemble program that is the first of its kind in our area.
